Josh Dun on Debby Ryan Crushing Motherhood at AMAs 2026

Josh Dun Opens Up About Debby Ryan Crushing Motherhood

Okay, so if you needed a wholesome moment today, Josh Dun just delivered one on the AMAs red carpet and honestly, it is hard not to smile reading it.

The Twenty One Pilots drummer showed up to the 2026 American Music Awards at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 25 looking like a man who is very much thriving in new dad life. And when E! News caught up with him alongside bandmate Tyler Joseph, he had nothing but glowing things to say about his wife Debby Ryan and their five-and-a-half-month-old baby girl, Felix Winter Dun.

She Actually Gave Birth in Their Bedroom

Here is the detail that nobody saw coming. Josh casually dropped during the interview that Debby did not go to a hospital — she gave birth right at home, in their bedroom. And Josh was there for every second of it.

"My wife is awesome," he told E! News. "She gave birth in our bedroom. And we have a five-and-a-half-month-old who's also great. She flew out here yesterday and did great. It's a lot of fun."

But beyond the logistical wow factor of a home birth, Josh said the experience genuinely changed the way he sees women and mothers. He was not shy about admitting it either.

"I think, for me, I understood what women go through to give birth, and it's intense," he said. "A lot more respect for all moms out there. I will say that it's no joke."

He called it magical. He called it amazing. And honestly, coming from someone who just watched his wife give birth in their own bedroom, that tracks.

Watching Felix Grow Has Been Something Else

Josh also talked about what these first few months of parenthood have actually felt like day to day, and he got surprisingly candid about how different it is from anything else he has experienced — including being a dog dad.

"So, I just had a dog, and dogs are great," he admitted, "but I think having a little human and watching her brain start to develop and become more aware of me is just a feeling that I've never had before. It's unbelievable."

That is the kind of honest, first-time-parent observation that parents everywhere immediately recognize. There is genuinely nothing that prepares you for the moment a baby starts to actually see you and respond to you. And clearly Josh is right in the middle of falling for it completely.

Debby Is "Crushing It" According to Her Husband

Debby Ryan is not a stranger to being in the spotlight — the former Disney star built a career on it. But right now her most important role is one that happens entirely off camera, and her husband could not be more proud.

When asked about seeing Debby as a mom, Josh did not overthink the answer. "She's crushing it," he said simply.

According to E! News, Karan Brar, Josh's former Jessie co-star and Debby's longtime on-screen family member, also recently described her transition into motherhood as absolutely perfect. So the people who know her best are all saying the same thing.

Baby Felix Will Be Joining Them on Tour

One of the more fun details to come out of the red carpet chat was that little Felix is not exactly staying home while her dad goes on the road. Josh said the plan right now is to bring her along for the tour, at least for some of it.

"It's kind of show-by-show basis," he said, "but I like the idea of her traveling young and getting used to travel, getting used to seeing new places."

For what it is worth, his bandmate Tyler Joseph is already a dad of three with wife Jenna Black, so Josh is not exactly walking into uncharted territory without a guide. Having a road-tested fellow dad-of-the-band next to you has to help.

Five months in, and by all accounts the Dun household is loud, happy, and very much figuring it out one show at a time. And if Josh's face on that red carpet said anything, it said he would not trade a single second of it.
