News, Donald Jr. and Bettina had actually already legally wed two days earlier — on May 21 in West Palm Beach, Florida, with a marriage license obtained by People confirming the date. The Bahamas gathering on May 23 was the larger celebration with family and close friends.

Among those who showed up for the occasion were Donald Jr.'s siblings Eric Trump, Tiffany Trump, and Ivanka Trump. So yes, this was very much a full family affair, even if the cameras were kept at a distance.

From a White House Engagement to a Bahamian Celebration

The road to this moment started at a holiday party at the White House on December 15, when President Donald Trump announced his son's engagement to Bettina during the festivities. Donald Jr., not exactly known for being speechless, admitted the moment had caught him off guard emotionally.

"It's not often that I'm at a loss for words," he told the crowd gathered at the party. He thanked Bettina for saying yes, called it a big win for the end of the year, and passed the mic to his bride-to-be.

"To be surrounded by so many women I love and admire meant more than I can say," she wrote. She also tagged Donald Jr. directly with a message that has since taken on even more meaning — "I cannot wait to marry you."
